Reclaiming the night sky: award-winning astrophotography  
Found these amazing photos on the New Scientist site:

Iranian photographer Babak Tafreshi has won the 2009 Lennart Nilsson scientific photography prize. According to the award panel, his images "reclaim a night sky that most modern people have lost."



It makes you realise why the stars were so important to ancient peoples - imagine looking up and seeing that, instead of a few distant dots. Amazing.

Wow, it looks at first glance like a photo taken on the surface of some other planet, because such views are so unfamiliar. So beautiful.

It's so beautiful.I was in a little willage a few years ago.It was amazing to see the Milky Way.I praised God.It wasn't as clear as on this picture,but it was beautiful.Thank you for posting this.
